BIG IDEAS!
about 1 year agoThe contest has now closed and these ideas will be used to inform the OCP review. What would make Central Saanich better now and in the future? No idea is too big or silly.
Do you find yourself always passing the same place in Central Saanich and thinking, “It would be so great if that spot was…”? Maybe you want to see more local activities?
Our OCP review is just beginning and we need to hear from you! Help define what we care about as a community and how we want to grow and evolve.
This is the time to share your big ideas.
Try thinking about the opportunities you see for Central Saanich in the following areas:
- Maintaining and nurturing Central Saanich's unique community character
- Agriculture
- Economic development
- Environment and climate action
- Transportation
- Parks and trails
- Infrastructure
- Arts, culture, and heritage
- Growth, housing, and development
- Community Services
Why? These ideas will help us identify themes, values and priorities, which will ensure the OCP conversations to come are meaningful and focused on key topics.
Rules
- Staff will determine winners for some fantastic gift baskets of local goods
- Contest closes April 12, 2021
DRTabout 1 year agoBoat Ramp
with the closing of the Tsartlip boat ramp there is nowhere to launch , Central Saanich could work with North Saanich to maybe provide something at Pat Bay ???
0 comment0Amyover 1 year agoFull lit intersection at Mt. Newton and East Saanich Rd. Too many cars and not enough people knowing or following proper 4 way procedure.
0 comment2Vic_Bover 1 year agoIt would be great if a gate could be installed at the entrance to Adam Kerr Park. That would create a safe secure area for dogs & peeps.
Suggest a gated entry to Adam Kerr Park off Central Saanich Rd.
0 comment0DBWover 1 year agoAccessible/Adaptable Housing
New and renovated housing be designed to be accessible/adaptable for seniors and people with disabilities. This would support ageing in place for seniors keeping them close to their familiar support network and reduce demand for senior specific housing. It also ensures housing options for people with disabilities - those born with them, people who become disabled due to degenerative condition or life altering incident, and families who have children with disabilities. Example standard is the "Safer Home Standard"
2 comments62Kwsover 1 year agoEstablish a program that will help match seniors who intend to down size with property owners who may want to construct infill housing.
With the likelihood that bylaws to allow infill housing will be approved, many seniors would be allowed to continue to live independently if there was a program established that could match seniors who will be down sizing with property owners considering construction of in-fill housing.
